They are seeking five or six "volunteer" properties that will allow PWD staff along with a contracted plumber to inspect their basements (looking at their current plumbing configuration, number of basement fixtures and where their rain leaders are connected) so that they can develop an average cost for retrofitting properties with backwater protection. From this information, they are hoping to develop a customer assistance program by January. They would like to schedule these inspections during the weeks of Nov. 13 and Nov. 20. Each inspection should take between 30 - 60 minutes, depending on the basement set up.
